McMeekan Named Civil Service Employee of the Month at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼

March 1, 2013

MACOMB, IL – Peter McMeekan, a procedures and systems analyst III in the Office of Public Safety, has been named the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Al & Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for March.

McMeekan was hired at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ in September 1997, as a microcomputer support specialist for public safety. In May 1999, he was reclassified to a microcomputer support specialist III, and in March 2003 he was reallocated to the position of procedures and systems analyst II. He received his current position in October 2006.

According to McMeekan's nominators, he "continually shows outstanding performance…working tirelessly without complaint after hours and on the weekend" to find a solution.

McMeekan's nominators also said he has gone out of his way to accommodate the needs of °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ professors in gathering data for research, as well as working with other campus offices to comply with reporting requirements. He also continues to update the OPS website, helping bring safety-related information to students, faculty and staff and the community.

In August 2010, the Goldfarbs established an endowment to permanently fund the University's Civil Service Employee of the Month award. The Goldfarb endowment is used to fund a $100 award for the recipient of the Civil Service Employee of the Month, as well as a plaque.

Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for this monthly recognition should contact Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) Public Relations Representative Wendi Mattson at WK-Mattson@wiu.edu.
