McCulley Named August Employee of the Month
August 1, 2017
MACOMB, IL – °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Human Resources staff clerk Cheryl McCulley has been named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for August.
McCulley was hired in December 1988 as a word processing operator 1 in the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Personnel Office. In June 1989, she became a status employee in the Personnel Office and the Human Resources Office. She was promoted to secretary III in the Human Resources Office in March 1998, and in April 2005, she audited to secretary IV/office support specialist, also in Human Resources. In May 2017, McCulley was promoted to staff clerk in the Human Resources Office.
According to her nominator, McCulley demonstrates enthusiasm and gives an "outstanding performance in the office."
"She has willingly taken on additional duties and added more responsibility to her position with the loss of key personnel in the HR office," said her nominator. "She continues to perform her job exceptionally and is always looking for ways to help the University, through the HR department, by finding new ways to improve processes or purchases."
McCulley's nominator said she was instrumental in scaling back the annual Years of Service Reception and is a "great ambassador for not only the HR department, but also for the University."
In August 2010, the Goldfarbs established an endowment to permanently fund the University's Civil Service Employee of the Month award. The Goldfarb endowment is used to fund a $100 award for the recipient of the Civil Service Employee of the Month, as well as a plaque.
The °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Foundation provides a $500 stipend for the Civil Service Employee of the Year. Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for the monthly recognition should contact Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) representative Christine Staley at CD-Staley@wiu.edu.
