Adamson Named December Employee of the Month at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼
December 8, 2021
MACOMB/MOLINE, IL – °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Center for Career Preparation and Employer Engagement Director Audrey Adamson has been named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for December 2021.
Adamson began working at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ in July 2012 as the assistant director of Student Services on °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼'s Quad Cities campus. She transitioned to Civil Services as a program coordinator in February 2019, as senior assistant director of Student Services for °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼-QC Student Services.
She was reallocated by audit in December 2020 to director of the Center for Career Preparation and Employer Engagement for °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼'s retention department.
According to her nominators, Adamson is "one of the hardest working people on campus," who "comes to work every day with a smile on her face."
"She is always looking for solutions and doesn’t dwell on problems," said her nominator. "Instead, she points out the problem and offers many solutions."
One of Adamson's nominators said they felt that through Adamson's leadership, °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼'s Career Center has moved forward toward major, University-wide goals.
"One of Audrey’s strengths is her ability to seek out collaborative opportunities with both departments and colleagues," said one of her nominators. "She sets realistic priorities for the office and makes them clear and attainable. She uses the collaborations to serve students to the best of her and her department’s abilities. She is student-focused, and demonstrates °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼’s Core Values in every student interaction."
In August 2010, the Goldfarbs established an endowment to permanently fund the University's Civil Service Employee of the Month award. The Goldfarb endowment is used to fund a $100 award for the recipient of the Civil Service Employee of the Month, as well as a plaque.
The °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Foundation provides a $500 stipend for the Civil Service Employee of the Year. Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for the monthly recognition should contact the Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) at csec-nominations-g@wiu.edu.
