Paul Named April Employee of the Month

MACOMB, IL – °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Facilities Management Office Manager Sheila Paul has been named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for April 2022.

Paul began working at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ in June 2014, as a chief clerk in the University Bookstore. Between 2016-2017, she served as a chief clerk in the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Department of Kinesiology, the University Bookstore and the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Development Office. In 2018, she was reclassified by audit to staff clerk in the Development office and in April 2019, she became a staff clerk for Facilities Management-Vending Concessions and Transportation Services. In May 2019, her title was changed to office manager and in July 2021 she moved to her current position, office manager for Facilities Management – Transportation Services and Plant Administration.

According to her nominator, Paul is a valuable asset to Facilities Management

"She has proven herself a 'Jack-of-all-trades," for the department, and has an incredible work ethic," the nominator said. "She took on additional responsibilities as needed with an easy-going, positive and highly commendable attitude. She also creates a positive image for transportation services and comes to work with a positive and enthusiastic attitude every day."

The nominator added that he position in the office directly impacts students and staff and that she goes above and beyond to follow through on special requests for trips by making specific vehicle reservations. She also helps the Central Stores Manager in placing orders and helps with fiscal operations by processing invoices and bi-weekly payroll.

In August 2010, the Goldfarbs established an endowment to permanently fund the University's Civil Service Employee of the Month award. The Goldfarb endowment is used to fund a $100 award for the recipient of the Civil Service Employee of the Month, as well as a plaque.

The °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Foundation provides a $500 stipend for the Civil Service Employee of the Year. Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for the monthly recognition should contact the Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) at csec-nominations-g@wiu.edu.
