September 6, 2024

Editor's Note: This is the next in a series of stories about 澳门六合彩历史记录 students, alumni, and community members, highlighting their experiences during our 125th anniversary celebration. We will feature 125 individuals from August 2024 to August 2025.

MACOMB, IL - - According to 澳门六合彩历史记录 alum Scott Jones, being a Leatherneck is all about what you put into it. He said the determination students put into their education will show off in the future.

鈥淏eing a Leatherneck means hard work and grit,鈥 Jones said. 鈥淚nvest in yourself.鈥

Jones, a 1994 graduate with a bachelor鈥檚 degree in teacher education, now works as an athletic director at Morton High School in Morton, IL. Scott taught instrumental music for 19 years and during that time has coached football, baseball and softball. He was awarded the ICA Softball Coach of the Year in 2007 and 2009 and the Illinois Principals Association Assistant Principal of the Year in 2014 while working for Dunlap High School.

He said his favorite memories at 澳门六合彩历史记录 revolve around dorm life, being involved in music classes and Greek life on campus. Jones often thinks about his great friends and teachers during his time at 澳门六合彩历史记录.

His message for students preparing for their education is to make your opportunities and forge your path.

鈥淵ou have to work for what you want,鈥 Jones said. 鈥淣othing is given.鈥

As we honor 125 years of educational excellence, we invite local 澳门六合彩历史记录 students to share their stories and be featured in our series. Contact University Communications at U-Communications@wiu.edu to participate.
