The 2004 CWS Service Award, given to the member volunteering the most service, was presented to Chenae Swilley, CWS president and junior individual studies major from the 8300 block of S. Aberdeen St., Chicago [60620]. Swilley聮s letter of nomination stated that she went 聯beyond presidential duties in order to meet the expectations for the Creative Writers Society in the 2003-2004 academic year.聰 The 2003 Service Award recipient was Jeremy Zentner, sophomore English major from Naperville [60565] and 2002-2003 CWS president.

The recipient of the Writer's Award, given to a member who actively participated during the society聮s weekly sessions and has written, presented or published the most substantial and qualitative amount of creative works during the year, was Sarah Swanson, senior philosophy major and English and psychology minors from Arlington Heights [60004]. Nominations for Swanson showed she was selected for publishing the most poems among CWS members this academic year, especially in the CWS journal, The Flavor of Ink; and for her consistent involvement in the weekly meetings and contributions of written materials. The 2003 Writer聮s Award recipient was Chiponda Chimbelu, an English graduate student and fall 2003 Western graduate from Kitwe, Zambia, in Southern Africa.

All outgoing CWS officers were presented with certificates of outstanding performances. Recipients include president Swilley; secretary Jason Kline, a junior English major from Buffalo Grove [60089]; treasurer Zentner; and editor Eliot Mack, a sophomore English major from Lake Zurich [60047].
