Sibley Named Employee of the Month

June 11, 2008

MACOMB, IL -- William (Bill) Sibley, University Libraries nursery worker, has been named the 澳门六合彩历史记录 June Civil Service Employee of the Month.

According to Sibley's nominator, "Bill is always eager to help others and is constantly trying to better his knowledge. The plants in the library are almost always mentioned by job candidates, as well as visiting students and families. He will always stop and answer questions about the plants or offer to help someone with a plant-related matter."

"Bill waters, fertilizes, transplants and trims more than 1,700 plants in the library. He comes in on weekends, holidays and breaks to ensure the vitality of our plants" another nominator added. "But his work extends beyond the library. If you've been to the College of Education and Human Services office and the Horrabin Hall conference room, you are overwhelmed by the beauty of the plants maintained by Bill. He works closely with the biology department and is available to anyone who shares his interest and needs advice on plants."

Sibley began working at Western in August 1986.

"Bill's work has a positive impact on students, faculty, staff and University visitors and he creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere for all those who enter the Library," said Greg Phelps, Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) interim public relations representative. "We commend Bill for his hard work and dedication to making the Malpass Library -- and the University -- stand out."

Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for this recognition should contact Phelps at 309/298-2730 or e-mail
