March 27, 2012

MACOMB, IL – Lisa Kernek, from the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ , will talk about Illinois historic figure Barratt O'Hara in her presentation "Sex, Lies and Linotype" at noon Thursday, March 29 in the Leslie F. Malpass Library, room 180.

According to Bill Thompson from , O'Hara, a journalist-turned-politician and the new lieutenant governor of Illinois in 1913, made headlines when he crusaded for higher wages for women in order to prevent them from falling into prostitution. Thompson noted that questions about O'Hara's morality also became news when he was falsely accused of an encounter with a "dissolute woman."
