The °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼-WIS Research and Scholarly Activity Scholarship provides a stipend to students engaged in research activities. This scholarship also strengthens the connection between student researcher, faculty researcher and °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼-WIS mentor. Each student-faculty advisor application is eligible for a $300 scholarship and a $200 travel award from °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼-WIS. Completed applications are due to the College of Arts and Sciences in Morgan Hall Room 114.

Eligibility

To be eligible, students must:

  • be a female majoring in a STEM discipline in the College of Arts and Sciences
  • be enrolled full-time during the award
  • be an undergraduate junior/senior or graduate student during the award
  • provide a letter of support from a full-time STEM faculty research advisor and the signature of a female faculty mentor in STEM (WIS mentor). The research advisor and WIS mentor may be (but need not be) the same person.
  • engage in a research project not part of a regular course ("individual research" courses are acceptable)
  • submit a completed student-written, typed application
  • provide evidence of IRB/IACUC approval of the research project, if necessary
  • attend WIS seminars during the award
  • present results of research activities (e.g. Thomas E. Helm Undergraduate Research Day, departmental seminar, professional conference)
