On-Campus Employment
- International students are allowed to work on campus; however, there are restrictions on theÌý number of hours andÌý enrollment requirements.
- Please note there are more students who want to work than there are available jobs.Ìý Student employment is not guaranteed.

- Get assistance with resumes, cover letters and mock interviews from the the Center for Career Preparation and Employer Engagement.
- A Social Security Number (SSN) is not required to apply for a job.ÌýIf a form asks you for an SSN, leave it blank. However, you do need a job in order to apply for an SSN.Ìý

Undergraduate students
- May work on campus as regular student workers.
- International students are not eligible for off-campus employment or Federal Work Study (FWS).Ìý
Graduate students
- May apply and work as graduate assistants, research assistants, and teaching assistants. These jobs are usually within the department in which a student studies and provide tuition waivers (you are still reponsible for paying course fees, books, health insurance, etc.Ìý Ìý Email your department directly to inquire about open positions.Ìý The International Admissions Office does not make decisions regarding asisstantship positions; you must contact the departments directly.

Off-Campus Employment
- If a student is eligible and meets the criteria, they may be eligible to work off-campus with proper authorization.
- Curricular Practical Training (CPT) Ìýallows a student to gain practical experience while working off-campus in an internsthip/job that is related to their degree.
- Ìýallows a student to work off-campus in a job that is related to their field.Ìý However, this is not common as it affects Post-Completion OPT which is completed after graduation.Ìý

Employment After Graduation
- Optional Practical Training (OPT) Ìýallows students to work for one year while in the U.S.ÌýÌý
- STEM Extention Optional Practical Taining (STEM EXT OPT) Ìýallows eligible students to work an additional two years following Post-Competion OPT.
