°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Employees of the Month - January-April

MACOMB, IL – °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Facilities Management Storekeeper II Linda Windsor has been named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for April.

Windsor was hired as an extra help clerk in the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Office of Public Safety from July-September 2004. She was then an extra help clerk in Building Maintenance from January-August 2005, when she was hired full time as a route driver for Facilities Management.

After being reallocated by audit to chief clerk at Facilities Management in September 2009, Windsor was reallocated to storekeeper II in January 2014.

According to her nominator, Windsor is "incredibly productive and sets a great example for all employees."

"She will stop whatever she is doing to help anyone if they need assistance with anything while maintaining a cheerful disposition," her nominator said. "She also has great attention to detail, which is absolutely critical for her position. Because she interacts with such a large number of diverse individuals, her positive attitude, enthusiasm and dedication to her job positively impacts the University by encouraging and inspiring others to follow her example."

In August 2010, the Goldfarbs established an endowment to permanently fund the University's Civil Service Employee of the Month award. The Goldfarb endowment is used to fund a $100 award for the recipient of the Civil Service Employee of the Month, as well as a plaque.

The °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Foundation provides a $500 stipend for the Civil Service Employee of the Year. Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for the monthly recognition should contact Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) representative Connie Lincoln at CM-Lincoln@wiu.edu.


MARCH

°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Admissions/Records Officer Sherry Banninga was named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for March.

Banninga was hired in June 2007 as a clerk for the Center for International Studies. She was promoted to an admissions/records representative in International Studies in August 2010 and was placed in her current position in November 2012.

According to her nominator, she is always pleasant in dealing with students and is willing to jump in and help wherever it is needed.

"She went above and beyond when her supervisor was out for a few weeks, and she took on additional job duties so things in the office would continue to move smoothly," said her nominator. "She is always positive and cheerful, as well as helpful, friendly, thoughtful and dedicated to helping each student. She helps give the students a sense of belongingness and trust in °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼."


FEBRUARY

°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Budget Analyst II Renee Georges was named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for February.

Georges was hired as a secretary IV/office support specialist for Human Resources in June 2006 and was promoted to account technician III in Facilities Management in August 2008.

In May 2011, Georges was reallocated by audit to accountant I and was reassigned to the budget office in September 2012. She was named her to current position by an audit in April 2013.

According to her nominator, Georges is an outstanding example of what it means to be a contributor to the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ campus.

"She consistently goes above and beyond to make sure that work is not only complete, but is accurate and meets the needs of those she serves," said her nominator. "She positively engages in the work of the University to ensure students and staff have terrific experiences. She is an unbelievable asset and a positive influence on everyone."


JANUARY


°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Building Service Worker John Buren was named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for January. He was named to his current position in August 2012.

According to his nominator, Buren shows great energy upon entering campus buildings to start his day.

"He is very positive and ready to put forth any effort necessary to complete the duties," said the nominator. "No detail is left untouched. Further, he is always proactive and make sure that the building is extra clean when his shift is over. If someone is having a bad day before they encounter you, they always walk away feeling better from his positive attitude."
