Veterans Literary Magazine Celebrates Fourth Issue

MACOMB, IL – A reading reception to commemorate the fourth issue of a publication written and edited by °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ veterans, service members and alumni will be held from 5-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 9 at the University Art Gallery.
"SITREP: Veteran Perspectives on Combat and Peace" is a collaborative project between the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Department of English and the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Veterans Resource Center, founded in 2014 by °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Department of English faculty members Barbara Lawhorn and Jacqueline Wilson.
This issue is made up of fiction and non-fiction stories, poems and photography by 24 contributors, made up of °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ students, alumni and faculty, who represent all the major branches of the military and who served in Vietnam, Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan and many other locations, stateside and overseas.Â
The reading, which is open to the public, will begin at 5 p.m.
The event is sponsored by the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Department of English, the Buchanan Center for the Arts and the Veterans Resource Center.
