MACOMB, IL – °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Accountant 1 Robert O'Bear has been named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for September.

O'Bear began his career at Western in September 1995 as an Account Technician III in the accounting office. He was audited to his current position in September 2001.

"Bob works so hard to make the accounting office run smoothly," said his nominator. "He is dedicated to helping others process paperwork and have it completed in a timely manner. He truly understands the rules and regulations that must be followed and always assists and knows the answers when asked. He always assists with a pleasant attitude toward everyone he comes in contact with.

In August 2010, the Goldfarbs established an endowment to permanently fund the University's Civil Service Employee of the Month award. The Goldfarb endowment is used to fund a $100 award for the recipient of the Civil Service Employee of the Month, as well as a plaque.

The °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Foundation provides a $500 stipend for the Civil Service Employee of the Year. Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for the monthly recognition should contact Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) representative Christine Staley at CD-Staley@wiu.edu.
