MACOMB, IL – °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Database/Marketing/Technical Program Coordinator for the Center for Best Practices in Early Childhood Education Amy Betz has been named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for September 2019.

Betz began working at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ in November 1992 as a faculty assistant in the center. Her position was transitioned to Civil Service in February 2019.

Betz's nominator said she maintains a high level of professionalism in her work, which can sometimes be difficult.

"She is compassionate while communicating the necessary rules and regulations that define the Illinois Early Learning Intervention System," said her nominator. "She goes over and above to achieve project goals and she is a friend to all of her colleagues."

In August 2010, the Goldfarbs established an endowment to permanently fund the University's Civil Service Employee of the Month award. The Goldfarb endowment is used to fund a $100 award for the recipient of the Civil Service Employee of the Month, as well as a plaque.

The °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Foundation provides a $500 stipend for the Civil Service Employee of the Year. Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for the monthly recognition should contact Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) representative Christine Staley at CD-Staley@wiu.edu.
