MACOMB, IL - - Kennedy Bauer was able to live out one of her lifelong dreams as a member of the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ volleyball team.

Bauer, a 2024 graduate of °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication, said her teammates and friends were some of the best memories on campus.

"I lived out my dream of playing a Division I sport," Bauer said. "When I think about °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼, I think about the fun times I've spent with friends and on the volleyball team."

Throughout her time at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼, Bauer built a strong network she hopes will springboard her career after graduation.

"I majored in communications and I've used what I have learned when I travel around the world," Bauer said. "°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ did a great job preparing me for the different communication scenarios I am in."

Bauer said students at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ should take advantage of all the opportunities on campus, whether that's student organizations, clubs or sports to meet new people and make new connections.

"Four years can go by in the blink of an eye," Bauer said.

As we honor 125 years of educational excellence, we invite local °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ students to share their stories and be featured in our series. Contact University Communications at U-Communications@wiu.edu to participate.
