125 Anniversary Celebration: Tammy Killian

MACOMB, IL - - Tammy Killian takes pride in the rich history of °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼, as she and her students demonstrate its values and creativity every day.
"We take pride in our rich history of academic excellence, grounded in traditional values yet driven by a vision of dynamic innovation," Killian, the chair of °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼'s Department of Theatre and Dance, said. "In the Department of Theatre and Dance, our dedicated faculty are passionate mentors, committed to guiding students on their journey to successful and fulfilling careers. We provide students with the resources, skills, and hands-on experiences they need to thrive in the arts and beyond. Our close-knit community fosters collaboration and creativity, uniting artists in pursuit of shared goals."
Killian said her favorite memories at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ involve the celebratory dinner held in the department at the beginning of each semester.
"When the faculty are introduced, the room comes alive with thunderous applause and excited cheers," Killian said. "This moment reflects the students' genuine appreciation for the work ahead and their enthusiastic support for the faculty who will guide them on their artistic journey in the months to come."
Killian said students looking at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ should "go for it" and feel proud to join the impressive legacy at the university.
"At °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼'s Department of Theatre and Dance, our mission goes beyond awarding degrees — we cultivate lifelong artists who are well-rounded, resilient, and ready to make their mark on the world," Killian said.
