Smith Named Employee of the Month
February 9, 2004
MACOMB, IL -- The Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ is pleased to announce Becky Smith, staff secretary for WesternÂ’s Business and Technology Advising Center, has been selected as the February Civil Service Employee of the Month.
Smith was acknowledged by her nominators for her “expertise with the technical aspect of her job.” According to the nominators, Smith accomplishes most tasks so routinely and efficiently that they are taken for granted. She “approaches her job with a professional attitude and she considers students to be number one.” Smith was also recognized for the respect, friendliness and consideration she shows others.
Smith started in °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼’s accounting office in 1985 and then worked in financial aid from 1986-87. She was promoted to the College of Business deanÂ’s office in March 1987 and has worked her way up to staff secretary.
“We are proud to honor Becky for being a true team player and for making Western a better place for students, faculty and staff,” said Paula Stull, CSEC public relations officer.
Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for this recognition should call Stull at 309/298-1967 or e-mail PL-Stull@wiu.edu.
