Western Grad Named Writer In Residence

Barbara (Lawhorn) Harroun, the Case Writer in Residence for Spring 2005 at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼, will present a public reading from her book “Dark Eel and Water Songs” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 29 in the University Art Gallery on campus. The reading is open free to the public.

A creative writing minor as an undergraduate at Western, Harroun graduated in 1998 and went on to the prestigious MFA program at Purdue University, graduating in 2002. At Purdue she worked as fiction editor of The Sycamore Review. Recently she has published two stories in Another Chicago magazine. She is teaching the Advanced Fiction Workshop, English 485, this semester.

The Fred E. and Lola Austin Case Endowment provides learning for a lifetime through extended residencies for visiting writers and greater opportunities for more interaction between students and established writers.
