Employee of the Month
October 6, 2005
MACOMB, IL – The Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ is pleased to announce that Diane Bruns, sports equipment supervisor in Brophy and Western halls, has been selected as the October Civil Service Employee of the Month.
According to her nominators, “Diane has a challenging job serving coaches and athletes of 20 sports. Her personal life must be placed on hold due to preparation and follow-up to work-outs, practices and games that require her to have a flexible schedule. Yet, she is always chipper.”
“The lifespan of the average uniform is three years. Diane has maintained them and thus stretched the lifespan by a year or two,” added Bruns’s nominators. “When teams prepare for games, home or away, their appearance is majestic thanks to Diane.”
Bruns’s nominators also cited her organizational and managerial skills “exceed expectation.” In addition, during the Rams Training Camps at Western, Bruns dedicated herself to managing the Rams area in Brophy Hall, as well as the visiting teams in Western Hall.
Bruns began working at Western in February 1980 as an equipment attendant. She was promoted to her current position in 1990.
““WeÂ’d like to congratulate Diane on taking such great pride in all she does and for making °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ a better place,” said Janet Koll, CSEC public relations officer. “Her work ethic is superb and is to be commended.”
Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for this recognition should call Koll at 309/298-1811 or e-mail JM-Koll@wiu.edu.
