Markert Named Employee of the Month

MACOMB, IL -- The Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ is pleased to announce that Norma Markert, staff secretary in the President's Office, was selected as the March Civil Service Employee of the Month.

According to Markert's nominators, she is "instrumental in the daily events in the Office of the President."

"She is an excellent ambassador of °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼. Her duties are complex yet through it all she maintains her composure and conducts herself expertly," her nominators said. "Her unparalleled ability to work with a wide range of people, her high standards of professionalism and her outstanding positive attitude in the face of multiple daily challenges set Norma apart."

Another nominator added she "sets a wonderful example of how staff members should conduct themselves and work together as a team."

Markert began working at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ in 1981 as a secretary III in International Programs. In 1983 she transferred to the Illinois Centennial Honors College. Markert was promoted to secretary IV and began working the President's Office three years later. In 1990 she was reclassified to her current position.

"Norma serves as an outstanding model of a staff member who strives for excellence in all that she does," said Katharine D. Barrett, CSEC public relations officer. "Her professionalism and efficiency are to be commended."
