Writing Center Services in Malpass Library

MACOMB, IL - - °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ students seeking out reference, resource and writing tips will be able to do so simultaneously in °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼'s Leslie F. Malpass Library during the 2008-09 academic year. As of Monday, Sept. 8, consultants from the University Writing Center (UWC) are holding regular walk-in sessions on the second level of the Malpass Library.
According to Jeffrey Darensbourg, marketing and outreach librarian, students will be able to attend UWC sessions during the regular terms in the 2008-09 academic year from 6-8 p.m. on Sundays and Mondays and from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
"The Malpass Library has always been a go-to place for people working on writing assignments," Darensbourg said. "Having the combined expertise of the individuals who work at the University Libraries and at the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Writing Center in one place is a great service for students."
UWC consultants guide and instruct students to help them express themselves clearly and provide them with a firm foundation for composition in their academic work and beyond, noted Neil Baird, writing center director and assistant professor in the department of English and journalism at Western.
"We'll be offering writing tutoring in any discipline, at any level and at any point in the writing process," Baird added.
