Symposium on Writing the Visual March 5 in °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Art Gallery

MACOMB, IL - - °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼'s English Graduate Organization (EGO) will host the "Critical and Creative Ekphrasis: A Symposium on Writing the Visual," beginning at 3 p.m. Friday, March 5 in the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Art Gallery.

English students and faculty, as well as art department artists and interested public, will have the opportunity to create poetry inspired by the current exhibit, "Exploring Media: Glitter."

English faculty members will give brief talks: David Banash on "Ekphrastic Desire: Why Writers Make Us See"; Charles McLeod on "Trees Hit by Cars: How Writing Meets Art"; and Erika Wurth will lead an "Exquisite Corpse," where participants add to a collection of words in sequence.
