Hamner to Deliver Genetics and the Soul Lecture Feb. 28 at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼

MACOMB, IL – °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Associate Professor of English Everett Hamner will deliver "Editing the Soul: Science and Fiction in the Genome Age," at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28 in Morgan Hall, 101A.
Hamner will talk about what it means to be a human being in the age of genetic engineering and how this and other questions are explored in contemporary literature, film, comics and television series – through fictional futures that might shape the decisions made about genetic engineering.
Brief responses will be offered by °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Biological Science Professor Shawn Meagher and °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ English Professor Shazie Rahman.
The lecture is sponsored by °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼'s departments of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Biological Sciences and English and the College of Arts and Sciences.
