Graduate Assistantships and Practicum Experiences

Graduate Assistantships

The CSP program connects you with assistantship opportunities in a wide range of student affairs and academic affairs offices throughout campus. You'll apply the concepts you learn in class鈥攕tudent development, administration, and program implementation鈥攖o your assistantship site, bringing our theory to practice model to life.听

Examples of graduate assistantship positions include:

  • Academic Advisor in First Year Advising Center
  • Assistant Complex Director in University Housing and Dining Services
  • Fraternity and Sorority Life Advisor in Office of Student Engagement

Practicum Experience

The practicum offers an opportunity to gain experience in a different area of student or academic affairs during the fall semester of your second year. Throughout this experience, you will work approximately 5 hours per week in an area distinct from your assistantship, either on-campus or at a nearby institution, while enrolled in the seminar course CSP 561: Practicum in Student Affairs.

Examples of practicum experiences include:

  • Advisor for Alternative Spring Break
  • Teaching Assistant for a CSP course
  • Assistant for Campus Recreation
