Thanks to the generous contributions of our alumni, the CSP program provides annual (non-renewable) scholarships for current graduate students enrolled in the major. If you are a CSP student, we strongly encourage you to apply for these exclusive funding opportunities, as we want to help you reduce your higher education costs. Eligible students can submit their applications each spring semester, with scholarships being awarded in mid to late April.

Scholarships for First Year Student Affairs Track
Nell Glynn Koester Scholarship
°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ lost a very good friend and wonderful human being when Nell Koester passed away on August 26, 1989. Her dedication, commitment to helping others, and sincere love of life as a faculty member, dean of women, director of student personnel services, and associate vice president for student affairs at Western is greatly missed by all who knew her. Nell was particularly supportive and instrumental in helping develop the College Student Personnel Graduate Program. She played a major role in forging a positive working relationship between the academic department and the Division of Student Services, as she believed practical experience is an integral part of graduate education.
In an effort to recognize and remember Nell for all she gave to the members of the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ community and to see that her legacy lives on, an endowed scholarship fund is named in her honor. Nell's friends and colleagues established the Nell Glynn Koester Memorial Scholarship to be presented to a first-year graduate student in the student affairs track at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ who exemplifies the high ethical standards and ideals that Nell so consistently demonstrated in her teaching and professional performance. The award is $1,000 for up to three people. The deadline to apply is in March of every year.
Class Gift Scholarship
The College Student Personnel program graduates of the 2016 established the Class Gift Scholarship to recognize the a member of the CSP: Student Affairs first-year cohort who demostrates exceptional potential as a professional in the field of student affairs through scholarship, leadership, and service to °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ and the CSP community. The award is $250. The deadline to apply is in March of every year.
Scholarships for Student Affairs Track and Higher Education Leadership Track
Dea Forney Alumni Scholarship
The College Student Personnel Alumni Scholarship was established in the fall of 1999 at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼. The name was amended in 2011 to reflect the service of Professor Dr. Dea Forney upon her retirement. This scholarship is awarded to students in both the Student Affairs and Higher Education Leadership tracks who demonstrate exceptional potential as professionals in the field of student affairs through scholarship, leadership, and service. The award is $250. The deadline to apply is in March of every year.
Scholarships for Student Affairs Track
College Student Personnel Multicultural Scholarship
The CSP Multicultural Scholarship was established in 2010 by an alumna of the program. It is awarded to CSP: Student Affairs students who have lived as or displayed significant commitment and/or potential to positively impact non-traditional, underserved, and minority communities within higher education with respect to social justice, multiculturalism, diversity, or faith. The award is $250. The deadline to apply is in March of every year.
How We Are Using Foundation Funds in 2024-2025
For the 2024-2025 academic year, the CSP program will be fortunate to do the following with generous alumni donations:
- Pay registration costs for 20 students to attend the Student Affairs 101 Conference at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼
- Host an alumni reception at the ACPA 2025 Convention in Long Beach, California
- Host an alumni reception at the NASPA 2025 Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana
- Purchase an ACPA Graduate Preparation Program Membership for our students
- Host a graduation celebration for the class of 2025
- Award scholarships to first and second years
How We Used Foundation Funds in 2023-2024
For the 2023-2024 academic year, the CSP program was fortunate to do the following with generous alumni donations:
- Award $4,500 in scholarships to first and second years
- Send 10 students to Student Affairs 101 at Eastern Illinois University
- Support a NASPA GAP leader's attendance at the annual NASPA conference in Seattle, Washington
- Support a graduate student presenter's attendance at the annual NASPA conference in Seattle, Washington
- Support a graduate student presenter's attendance at the annual ACPA convention in Chicago, Illinois
- Host a graduation celebration for the class of 2024
