In addition to introducing CSP students to quantitative and qualitative research methods used in the field of education and human services, I teach undergraduate courses in the areas of human growth and development, assessment and learning for students in the teacher education program. I also serve as the coordinator of the department’s graduate program and serve on many university and college committees. I've earned both my master’s (1988) and bachelors (1986) from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and later received my doctorate from SIUC in 1995.

My experiences in student affairs and college administration, including housing and campus recreation position and NCAA athletic faculty administrator, helps provide context for the students in the Research Methods course.

Dr. Cody joined the Educational and Interdisciplinary Studies Department, currently known as the Department of Educational Studies in August 1995. He is the graduate coordinator for the Master of Science and Education for the Educational Leadership and Interdisciplinary Studies Department and specializes in Educational Psychology. His research interest include classroom management strategies, issues of bullying in schools, adverse students. Other research interests include motivation and leadership in relation to schools and sports. Dr. Cody teaches educational psychology and assessment at both the undergraduate and graduate level courses. These courses include, but not limited to, EDS 303- Classroom Management and Field Work in Academic Settings, EDS 500-Methods of Research and EDS 570-Seminar in College Teaching.
