About Me

As a professor in the School of Education, I teach courses in social and multicultural foundations of education and educational research. I received my Ph.D. in 2007 from the University of Pittsburgh in Social and Comparative Analysis of Education and hold additional graduate degrees in social science and social studies education. I have been with °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ since 2008.

My scholarship and research passion is twofold: The first is school-based mindfulness curriculum and mind-body practices in teacher education. I focus on how these practices align with state and national standards, equity goals, and wellness initiatives. The second is democratic education. I am interested in the civic mission of public schools, but also how democratic principles are enacted in alternative and independent schools.
