Dr. Hollie Mason is an Assistant Professor in the School of Education at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼. Hollie has research experience in the areas of teaching reading to students with disabilities, providing culturally inclusive classroom environments, teacher preparation, and parent engagement with special educators. Hollie has lived most of her life in North Carolina where she received degrees from Appalachian State University and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). She began her career in the field of mental health, working with children in multiple venues, before returning to school to seek her M.Ed. in Special Education. She has worked as a special educator at public schools at both the middle school and high school level. After several years as a classroom teacher, Hollie returned to UNCG to pursue her Ph.D. in Special Education, which she completed in 2023 . Hollie serves at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ as the Undergraduate Coordinator forÌýtheÌýSpecial Education program, Faculty Advisor for theÌýstudent chapter of the Council for Exceptional Children, and Secretary of the College of Education and Human Services Faculty Council.Ìý Hollie enjoys connecting with students, building relationships, and promoting the voices of people with disabilities in her work.
