Library Services for Faculty

To check out materials at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ libraries, faculty should present their °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ ID card.

Books

Most °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ books are checked out to faculty for 16 weeks. Two further renewals of 16 weeks each are allowed. There is no limit to the number of books that may be checked out at any one time.

Holds

We do not place holds on books. As members of the multi-library CARLI consortium, we can usually get books faster from another library than from our own users with a recall. We will occasionally recall books when needed for Course Reserves.

MyAccount

Library users have access to their library account via WestCat, the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Library Catalog. The MyAccount function lists books checked out, books borrowed from other libraries, the status of I-Share requests, fine information, and renewal options.

Periodicals

Print periodicals do not circulate except for faculty, who may borrow journals for 3 days.

Surrogate Checkout

Since library policy prohibits checkout of items to persons presenting another's ID card, we allow faculty to designate a student to act as your surrogate and check out library materials in your name. A list of surrogates is kept at the Access Services desk. To add your surrogate to the list, please complete and return the surrogate checkout form. Please do not ask students to check out books for you on their own ID, as it makes them responsible for the item even after they've given it to you!

Surrogate Checkout Procedure

Surrogates are required to present their student ID and state the name of the faculty member when they bring the aterials for checkout. Included are books, media, periodicals, and barcoded government publications. Checkout of material takes place at the regular Access Services desk.
