Student Recreation Center Facilities

Whether you want to lift weights, go for a run, take a dip in the pool, or socialize with friends, we have something for everyone.

Facility Reservations

The Aquatics Center, Fitness Studios, Conference Rooms, Arena Courts, and Multi-Activity Courts (MAC) of the Spencer Student Recreation Center may be reserved when not scheduled for Campus Recreation programs or open recreation.

Reservation Requests

°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ departments or organizations requesting space must complete an online and submit it at least 72 hours prior to their event. Use your °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ email address to begin the login process.

Organizations outside of °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ should contact Campus Recreation to request a reservation.

Guidelines
  • On-Campus Catering offered though Sodexo. Contact Sodexo Catering at (309) 298-1292.
  • The Keeney and Colgate Conference Rooms are available to host student organization meetings. Each room seats approximately 30 people.
  • A Facility Usage Fee may be assessed based on the nature and the length of the event/activity.
  • A Campus Recreation Photographing/Filming Request Form must be completed, signed and returned to the Campus Recreation Office at least 24 hours prior to the time you wish to photograph/film. The time of your request will be honored based on the availability of a Campus Recreation staff member to escort you.

Student Recreation Center Office (Mezzanine Level)

  • The Student Recreation Center Office staff works directly with intramural sports, fitness programs, aquatics, special events, scheduling, and marketing.
  • Information about events/programs, indoor and outdoor facility reservations, student employment, and much more is available from this office.
  • The Campus Recreation office is open Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and is closed on the weekends.

Colgate and Keeney Conference Rooms (Mezzanine Level)

  • The Colgate and Keeney Rooms are available to host student organization meetings.
  • Each room seats approximately 30 people.
  • Requests for these rooms may be made by filling out a Campus Recreation Facility Request Form which can be found at Campus Scheduling and must be submitted at least 72 hours prior to the requested time.
  • The organization will be notified via email regarding the availability of the room requested.

Front Desk and Oasis (Mezzanine Level)

  • The Front Desk serves as the main entry to the Spencer Student Recreation Center where students and members must show their °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ ID's for admittance.
  • A variety of sport drinks, snacks, and soft drinks may be purchased at the Front Desk.
  • Reservations for racquetball and wallyball courts are taken at the Front Desk, (309) 298-2797.
  • Memberships, $7 guest passes, and $40 10-visit punch cards are also sold at the Front Desk.
  • All sales are cash, check (credit/debit cards are not accepted)
  • Open during building hours, this area is designated for relaxation and socialization purposes. Food and beverage are permitted.
  • Lost &am; Found is located at the Front Desk.

Aquatics Center (Track Level)

The Aquatics Center is a fully accessible facility staffed with friendly, professional lifeguards who ensure a safe and positive aquatic environment. The facility includes a 25-yard, 6-lane pool, an 8-person hot tub, and adjacent locker rooms. Informal recreation activities such as water basketball, open swimming, aqua classes, and lap swimming are offered. The Aquatics Center provides a variety of water fitness equipment and is ADA compliant.

Boxing Room (Track Level)

  • This room has a 100# heavy bag and a speed bag.
  • Hand wraps must be used at all times.
  • Speed bag and hand wraps are available to check out at the Equipment Room.

Cardio Plaza (Track Level)

  • This area features state-of-the-art cardiovascular equipment that includes: stair steppers, stationary bikes, rowing machines, arc trainers, ellipticals, and treadmills.

Racquetball Courts (Track Level)

  • Four courts, located through the court room on the track level, may be reserved for racquetball or wallyball.
  • One-hour reservations (on the hour) may be made by contacting the Front Desk at (309) 298-2797.

Walking/Jogging Track (Track Level)

  • An elevated indoor track surrounds the gymnasium and the multi-activity courts (MAC) providing indoor comfort for walkers and joggers.
  • Inside lane - 8.46 laps (roughly 8 1/2 laps) = 1 mile
  • Middle lane - 8.23 laps (roughly 8 1/4 laps) = 1 mile
  • Outside lane - 7.99 laps (roughly 8 laps) = 1 mile

Equipment Room (Arena Level)

  • A variety of sports equipment including volleyballs, basketballs, softball bats and balls, tennis/badminton racquets, racquetball racquets, disc golf discs, and other equipment is available for checkout.
  • Locks for lockers and hand and shower towels are available for daily use, at no charge, and may be checked out from the Equipment Room.

Fitness Studios (Arena Level)

  • The Fitness Studios offer a pitch-control stereo system, mirrored walls, a wooden floor, and various fitness equipment including steps, slides, exercise bands, cycles, yoga mats, and hand weights.
  • The Fitness Studios can be divided to accommodate limited practice and performance sessions for a variety of student organizations. However, there is limited availability for scheduling by organizations.
  • Group Fitness and Sport Clubs have priority over all scheduling.
  • No wrestling, sparring, or spitting is permitted.

Multi Activity Courts (Arena Level)

  • Three multipurpose courts are available for open recreation, intramural competition, sport club events, and special event activities.
  • The MAC can be used for basketball and indoor soccer. Please note that certain sports can only be played on specific courts.
  • Court 1 is designated for volleyball use every day unless a special event is being held.

Olympic Strength/Weight Room (Arena Level)

  • The weight training area provides circuit training equipment featuring state-of-the-art Cybex machines and a full line of free weights.
  • Five-toed shoes (i.e., Vibram shoes) are allowed in the weight room.

  • Located around the North Quad Residence Halls on the northeast side of campus

Vince Grady Field
  • Located on north side of West University Drive across from North Quad
  • Large multipurpose field suitable for softball, flag football, soccer, and sport club activities
  • Sport Club Lacrosse field, women's rugby, and Ultimate frisbee located on the north side of the field
Corbin/Olson Hall
  • Located west of Corbin/Olson Hall
  • 1 multipurpose field for soccer, softball, or flag football (west)
