Civil Service Employee of the Year 2010 - Don Myers

The Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ is pleased to announce Don Myers, a bookstore department supervisor in °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼'s Bookstore, has been selected as the 2010 Civil Service Employee of the Year.

Myers was selected from a group of Employee of the Month recipients for 2010; he was the December Employee of the Month. As the 2010 Civil Service Employee of the Year, Myers received a plaque, will have his name placed on a permanent plaque in the Human Resources office and received a $500 stipend before taxes.

Myers was cited by his nominators for doing his job with a good attitude.

"He is focused and very dedicated. Don clearly ascribes to the idea of 'what you must do, do cheerfully.' He got the textbook rental program running by selecting 27 in-store titles to pilot the program. He also was able to purchase books from new online sources and was able to reduce books by 25-50 percent," his nominators said. "He works hard and goes entirely above and beyond the call of duty regularly. He does it all with a level of customer service that can only be described as remarkable. Don directly affects the lives of each and every member of our campus community."

Myers was hired as a clerk II in the University Union Bookstore as extra help in May 1997, December 1997 and May 1998. He was then hired as a Bookstore Department Supervisor in April 2001.
